Issac Hayes changed music forever with this album. It’s like (for people of a certain age) you know where you were and what you were doing when you heard about the death of President Kennedy and Dr. King. It was new and different music, unlike the Motown sound that we were so accustomed to. The DJ on the radio station couldn’t believe it either. He played it back to back… both songs on side A. The next DJ did the same. It was played heavily out of rotation. I know you younger people are not familiar with this, but it was groundbreaking music. I am forever grateful to Mr. Hayes for his music contribution for which I don’t think he has proper credit. I like the Academy Award, but his place in history has to be greater than that. Thank you Isaac and rest in peace.
