The Story of the "No Church In The Wild" Guitar Riff
Connecting Generations Through Music: The Art of Sampling
Almost 12 years have passed since this song came out, but it still grabs your attention, and we believe it's all because of that catchy riff.
Now, here's the interesting part.
In 1978, Phil Manzanera made a cool riff for his solo project 'K-Scope.' Jump to 2011, and we see Jay-Z and Kanye West using that same riff in their song 'No Church In The Wild.' They borrowed that riff, slowed it down, and breathed new life into it.
For those not familiar, Phil Manzanera stands as one of the UK's most revered musicians and record producers. He rose to prominence in the early '70s as the lead guitarist of the iconic band Roxy Music.

Exceptional sampling serves as a musical bridge between generations, introducing younger audiences to timeless classics and providing older listeners with refreshing interpretations of familiar tunes.
It's a great way to keep music alive and make it grow and change.

I remember when Manzanera posted that video, basically saying, "All of you are playing it wrong!" Funnily enough, I'm listening to To Pimp A Butterfly right now and when that Ernie Isley guitar hits in "i" it sent a chill up my spine. Such a perfect use of a classic sound from the past.
Thx, Andres.
