As a Dutch person I'm amazed you've even heard of this artist. Even though he gained more recognition in Sweden he had some succes in The Netherlands as well. I have all of his (Dutch) albums on vinyl still. His Swedish-Dutch accent makes him quite unique, one of a kind really. Love it!
My favourite album is "Liedjes voor de pijpendraaier en mijn zoetelief", especially the first two songs "Teddybeer (Opus II)" and "Marjolein (Opus II)". Coincidentally both songs inhabit almost opposing poles of his often eclectic choices of style both music and lyric wise, often inappropriate even indecorous but with obvious elements of humour. Not sure you could get away with this nowadays though.. "Pijpendraaier" for eg. is almost archaic rude Dutch for "homosexual" even though I have no idea why it's in the title other than in context with "zoetelief" (which translates as "sweetheart" but is a 100 times more sweet) it sort of seems to balance out and function as an equalizer for gender neutral love. But still.. I reckon it was more rebellious humour rather than a plea for LGBTQ rights🙄. https://open.spotify.com/album/5Eie7LbG6OzrhO3b4ivUGW?si=8Mwzl9kfSsuRChqef8jZVA
There is a biopic, Cornelis from 2010. Vreeswijk contained multitudes. There are political songs, hedonistic songs like Nudist polka and songs about threesomes, and romantic songs like Veronica and Cecilia Lind.

So cool to hear, any recomendations on where to start among the Dutch versions?

You could call him the Swedish Pete Seeger.
Or Bob Dylan
The whistling was a nice touch.
