I found it in a used book store years ago for $8. There's a number of other great interviews including Bill Evans and Art Blakey. They are taken from radio interviews by a local NPR station in Tucson, so the musicians seem pretty relaxed and open. The pros and cons of free jazz comes up often.
What a treat this was this morning ! So cool to hear the very similar riffs that were on the Abraxis album, musicians inspire musicians, like the way Songletter acknowledges that !
A woman I wanted badly gave me that album in my college years. Her friend told me she was lesbian and warned me that she was unreachable after I first met her in a London pub. The album indicated otherwise (along with other experiences). Sadly I was too shy to move forward. Impressively, I stayed true to a woman 6000 miles and two years away. Happily I have the album and pleasant memories of that deliciously tense time.
I love Gábor Szabó! Thanks so much for sharing this.
I really love his album 1969, a beautiful album of pop covers
Wow haven't listened to Gabor Szabo for years. Thanks for posting this. Timeless, incredible music with such a great vibe.

Thx!
Good one! Thank you. Love the Santana reference…….. Carlos may have borrowed a riff or two.
Nice! I’ll be listening all day!
I love Szabó's original 'Gypsy Queen' which Carlos took to new heights (especially the incredible jam on the amazing 'Lotus' LP).

Glad you liked it Brian! Musicians inspiring musicians is always cool!
There’s a great interview of him in”Jazz Spoken Here”.
Do you have the link George?
Discovering "new" music at my age is a wonderful thing. Thank you!
ADORE GABOR!

Genius guitarist with a fascinating and tragic story. A friend of mine is writing a book about Gabor…
Do you know when the book is coming out?
I don’t believe there’s a publication date yet.
