Having a long-standing John Denver obsession, I do wish people would realise he wrote more than just this one song, which is... fine, but not even close to the best stuff he wrote any more than "Imagine" should be the song people cover by John Lennon. Country Roads is the easy, obvious, no-thinking-required choice to cover, and it's continually frustrating given the wealth of the JD catalog.
On the other hand, at least it's not Annie's Song.

I usually hate cover songs but this is pretty great. I've always thought "Take Me Home, Country Roads" seemed so sad even though the lyrics really aren't melancholy. But "Our Lady of the Most Sorrow" sure knows how to take it to a new depth.
