Eventually, hopefully starting later this year, I’ll be writing posts about each of my Desert Island Discs. Here are the other seven:

• Scott Walker - Scott 4 (1969)

• Men at Work - Business As Usual (1982)

• The Lover Speaks - The Lover Speaks (1986)

• Lowest of the Low - Shakespeare My Butt (1991)

• Zero 7 - Simple Things (2001)

• Beck - Sea Change (2002)

• case/lang/veirs - self-titled (2016)

I'm late for the party but I feel that these comment section is missing a praise for Olivia Coleman (yes, that actress) cover for this baby making song:

Van Morrison probably should reign over ALL in the music-procreation universe (perhaps co-regents with Al Green and Barry White)

With its dark and seductive vibe, the song already had so much going for it. However, the icing on the cake was the brilliant decision to include the very tasty Isaac Hayes sample. Pure perfection.

Great song, great album. Can't remember how I first heard them 🤔.

Wes Borland turned me on to Portishead. I think their big break was maybe the Tank Girl soundtrack with (I think?) Roads?! Not 100% on that. .... I remember knowing who they were when I was young, but not being really familiar with them or diving into their work. When I first heard Sour Times, I was hooked. I was upset I didn't really give them attention long ago. And they've now been a favorite for years. Dummy gives me Disintegration by The Cure vibes. Not sure why.

Same, I think I heard them in a movie or something! But then Sour Times was my gateway too into the rest of the album.
